U.S. judge clears the
way for former pilots' trial
A federal judge has refused to put a
hold on state charges against two former America West pilots
accused of trying to fly while drunk.
Wednesday's decision by U.S. District
Judge Patricia Seitz paves the way for hearings next month
in state and federal court for Christopher Hughes and Thomas
Cloyd, who are charged with operating an aircraft under the
influence and culpable negligence.
Trial for the men is set for Oct. 20
in state court.
Prosecutors say the pilots drank heavily
