Under Age Dui

Despite all efforts to crack down on DUI infractions and accidents, the number of drinking and driving offenses does not seem to be abating. But while older drivers may be learning their lessons, young people have yet to do so. Under age DUI is a growing tragedy. In fact, DUI fatalities are the leading cause of death among drivers between 16 and 24. As a result, every state has adopted "zero tolerance" legislation making it illegal for anyone under 21 to drive with a blood alcohol content of more than .00 to .02, depending on the state. For most teens, that means that hitting the roads after one or two beers can result in an under age DUI charge. The penalties can cause them to start their driving lives with a criminal record, serious fines and other penalties, including a suspended driver's license.
