How long will an Arizona DUI conviction stay on my record?

Arizona DUI convictions can remain on your driving record for a period of five years from the date of conviction. This means that during this period of time, your car insurance rates may be more expensive and you may be unable to get a commercial drivers license or do jobs that require you to have a clean driving record. However, you are only required to have the special SR-22 insurance mandated for drunk drivers for a period of 3 years following the DUI conviction.
A DUI conviction is also a criminal conviction, and as such, those conducting a thorough background check may be able to find the DUI on your record for a much longer period of time- sometimes even for life. However, it may be possible to have the DUI charges sealed or expunged from your record if you meet the criteria for doing so.
To understand how to clear your record of a DUI, or to attempt to raise defenses after a DUI arrest so you don't get a record in the first place, you should strongly consider consulting with an experienced Arizona attorney who specializes in DUI cases.
