Louisiana DUI laws impose serious penalties on those who are found to be driving with a BAC above the legal limit. One of those penalties is the loss of your license. In fact, in Louisiana, there are actually not one but two ways in which you may lose your drivers license:
When you receive an administrative suspension, you do have the right to request a DMV hearing to appeal that suspension. You may request reinstatement after 30 days, and you may request either a restricted license or full reinstatement. However, you will need to convince the DMV that there is a legitimate reason you should have your license back. Furthermore, even if the DMV gives you your license back, your license may still be suspended as part of the sentence for the criminal charges against you.
To deal with the entire DUI process, including getting your license back, it is imperative you have a lawyer on your side to help you navigate through all the legal rules and requirements associated with Louisiana DUI charges.
