The following are the punishments for alcohol-related crimes in the State of Florida.
The first DUI offense will entail a conviction reflected on your driving record forever, along with a fine of $250-$500 and a suspended license for up to 12 months.
A second offense will result in a $500-$1,000 fine, along with a maximum of nine months in jail and a license suspension of up to five years.
If there is yet another DUI offense, the driver will face up to a year in jail, along with a $1,000-$2,500.
In the event that a DUI offense results in the death or mutilation of an individual, the driver will be charged with a felony and can serve up to 15 years in penitentiary.
In order to be declared legally drunk, a breathalyzer test must read 0.8 or more.
