Truck Driver Placed Out Of Service For DUI

On September 1, 2006 at approximately 10:00 AM, Dion L. Cracraft, a 46 year old resident of Freemont, California was driving a 1994 Freightliner tractor pulling a semi trailer loaded with freight. The truck belongs to Impact Transportation based in Oakland, California.

Cracraft entered the Ridgefield Port of Entry, located northbound I-5 at milepost 15. Cracraft was stopped and contacted by Commercial Vehicle Officer Randy Rambo for a check of California vehicle registration. Upon checking the driver’s documents, Officer Rambo detected a faint odor of intoxicants coming from Cracraft. Cracraft denied having consumed alcohol, but did volunteer to take a portable breath test (PBT) which showed him to be over the legal limit of .04 for an operator of a commercial vehicle.

Trooper Robert Wollnick contacted the scale and Mr. Cracraft. Cracraft then submitted to an additional breath test (BAC), verifying he was over the legal limit.

Cracraft was cited for DUI and placed out of service for a 24 hour period.

This is the second commercial driver to be arrested at the Ridgefield Port of Entry in as many days. A total of 15 drivers have been arrested or placed out of service for drugs and or alcohol at the scales since January 1, 2006.
