Ignition Interlock Devices
This page contains information about ignition interlock breath alcohol devices certified by the Washington State Patrol. At the request of the state's municipal and district court judges, we have provided a list of manufacturers and devices as a public service.
Washington State's DUI laws and penalties have changed for driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs.
The new laws permit municipal and district court judges to impose additional sanctions on individuals who have been arrested for DUI of alcohol. This may include ordering some offenders to install an ignition interlock breath alcohol device on their cars.
The device, attached to the car's ignition system, requires the driver to blow into the device before starting the car. If alcohol is detected, the car won't start
