DUI: Charges & Penalties

If you've been charged with a DUI, you may be curious what charges and penalties you face.  The answer depends on your state law, whether this is your first, second, or third DUI, and the circumstances of your situation.  For example, if this is your first DUI, you did not injure any people or property and your BAC was barely at the legal limit, with the right defense, you may get off with a relatively light sentence or even a reduced charge of reckless driving.  However, if you've had prior DUIs, if your BAC was significantly above the legal limit, or you injured any one or anything, even the best defense may result in prison time, fines, fees, a suspended license, and a felony record.
